Gifting is great! And as discussed in our previous post about the benefits of strategic gifting there are many positives for businesses.

But when you've got a long list of brilliant customers, it can be tricky to manage your spending.

That's where tiered gifting comes in handy. Think of it as a clever way to make sure your gifting budget goes further. You spend different amounts on different clients, depending on how much value they bring to your business.

It's all about making sure your most loyal customers feel extra special.

Here's how to get started:

💡Know Your Clients: First things first, you need to organise your clients into different tiers.
You could do this based on a multitude of different values that are important to you. It could be how much they spend with you, but it definitely doesn't have to be. You could also take into account how long they've been a customer, or even how much they engage with your brand! Or how much they helped you grow in your current position.

💷Set a Budget (and Stick to it!): Once you've got your tiers sorted, decide how much you want to spend on each. This will help you keep track of your overall gifting budget and make sure you don't overspend.

🎁Choose Gifts with Care: Now for the fun part! But remember, the gift should always suit the tier. Perhaps your top-tier clients receive a luxurious hamper, while those in a middle tier get a beautifully packaged box of biscuits. And the lowest tier receive branded mug.

🏷️Add a Personal Touch: A handwritten note or a gift that relates to their interests can work wonders. It shows you've put some real thought into it.

📈Keep Track of Everything: A simple spreadsheet can be a lifesaver. Use it to track your spending and make sure you're staying within your budget.

    A Few Extra Tips:

    • ♻️ Make it sustainable: Many people are eco-conscious. Make sure your gift doesn't end up in landfill.
    • 🙏🏽 Mind Your Manners: Always be aware of cultural differences when sending gifts.
    • ❌ Keep it Appropriate: Steer clear of anything that could be seen as a bribe.
    • 🗓️ Timing is Everything: Make sure your gifts are suitable for the occasion.
    • 🗨️ Ask for Feedback: Don't be shy about asking your clients what they think of your gifting programme.

There you have it! A simple guide to tiered gifting. Remember, it's all about showing your clients how much you value their business. With a bit of thought and planning, you can build stronger relationships and leave a lasting impression.
